We’re Joel Kuznetsky and Heather Shorr, Los Angeles parents who got tired of spending our evenings hunting for things to do with our son, Ford, who turns 5 in January. AfterschoolSearch.com is the site we wished existed.
Why we started AfterschoolSearch
Finding activities for kids is harder than it should be. Sports leagues, swim lessons, music classes, camps, birthday spots and weekend events are all out there, but the information is scattered across dozens of different websites. You end up with a pile of open browser tabs and still aren’t sure you’ve seen everything.
The directory sites that do exist only cover a fraction of what’s actually available, and many of them want you to sign up through them so they can collect a referral fee.
Asking ChatGPT or another AI tool doesn’t do the trick either. You get a short list of the usual big names, details that may be out of date, and programs that may not even be running anymore, so you still end up checking every website yourself. We wanted to give parents a better option.
What we’re building
AfterschoolSearch.com brings kids’ activities, events, lessons, classes, camps and leagues together in one place, so parents can search everything without bouncing between sites. Access to everything is free. For families who want more, we’ll offer affordable premium memberships with upgraded features and an ad-free experience.
We’re starting in Los Angeles County and will expand to more cities as we grow.

Joel Kuznetsky
Joel is Ford’s dad and a lifelong Valley guy, born and raised in West Hills and now living in Sherman Oaks. He’s spent countless hours hunting down preschools, sports leagues, music classes, karate, theater and more, which is exactly why he started AfterschoolSearch. Heather Shorr
Heather is Ford’s mom, born and raised in Calabasas and now living in Sherman Oaks. From preschool tours to speech lessons, music classes and sports leagues, she’s done the research LA parents know all too well, and she co-founded AfterschoolSearch to make it easier for everyone else.
